Thierry Aujard, Owner/Creative Chef
As the flour billowed from giant mixers and the smell of sweet icing lingered the air, not many can reminisce that this was their earliest culinary memory. But for Thierry Aujard, being raised in one of the largest pastry manufacturing plants in France, this was just that memory. Being that Thierry’s mother worked in the factory; under her watchful eye, Thierry was immersed in the world of pastry craftsmanship before he even knew that this would be his life’s passion.
Over a series of years, Thierry’s education and training continued in Paris. Classic French Cuisine of course was where he started and learned core rules of the field with the experiences that many wish to have under their aprons. It was not until after working countless hours at La Tour D’Argent and Pavillon Ledoyen that Thierry decided to go to the United States to pursue his career as a chef. While in the United States, Thierry built a good foundation for a caterer in the Philadelphia Suburbs cooking savory. Now after almost 15 years in the kitchen, Thierry had an epiphany and rediscovered his love for pastry again and changed directions.
Becoming the Pastry Chef for Jimmy Duffy’s, an exclusive caterer since 1932 for the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, is were Thierry found opportunity to implemented his love for pastry. Thierry has been a part of the pastry world for over seven years now, training and receiving guidance from the best pastry chefs the industry has to offer. Top notch chefs such as Ewald Notter, Anil Rohira, Vincent Pilon, and Stephane Treand would vouch for the professionalism and passion Thierry contributes to the industry.
Thierry, like most chefs, needed more though, so Thierry grew interest in the competition side of the field. Thierry has competed in the 2007, 2008,2009, and most recently, the 2011 U.S. Paris Gourmet Pastry Chef of the Year competition in New York. Thierry has also competed in the 2009 National Pastry Team Championship with Team Millican, where judges were so impressed with the perseverance of the team they received a Sportsmanship award. Growing a bond with his teammate, Thierry has assisted on two aired Food Network Challenges and received great accolades for the great work preformed.
Thierry continues in perfecting his artistry by creating his own company providing customized sugar and chocolate pieces to restaurants, caterers, hotels, and private clients all interested by these unique sculptures.
Thierry Worked for a semi manufacturing company, Desserts International. He saw there, the potential in manufacturing baked goods, and also saw the need for more and better manufacturers in the specialty baking field.
Up for a new venture, Thierry started a new business, with his wife, Cherie, Sweet Prosperity Bakery. We are manufacturing Pastries, Cakes and Brownies for other companies as well as our own brand. With consistent drive and want of continual growth it is Thierry’s goal to one day go back to France, where the dream began, and receive the high honor of MOF in pastry.
